Charlie's Background
Charlie D. Batch is a native of Homestead, PA. He started playing football for the Steel Valley Midget Association when he was 7 years old and graduated from Steel Valley High School in 1992 lettering in football and basketball. Charlie went on to play college football at Eastern Michigan University, setting numerous school and MAC conference records before graduating in 1997 with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.
Professional Athlete
Entering his twelfth season in the National Football League. Charlie was drafted in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, where he spent the first four seasons of his career as the starting quarterback. Charlie has spent the past eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including Super Bowl XL and XLIII championship teams. Charlie currently is the NFLPA representative for the Steelers.

Philanthropist
Contributing to the welfare of the community is important to Charlie. In 2000, he established Best of the Batch Foundation primarily to serve underprivileged youth in the Pittsburgh area. Charlie takes a very active, hand-on role in his non-profit organization.
In 2006, Charlie was named Pittsburgh Steelers Walter Payton Man of The Year for his generosity and commitment to the community. He regularly visits the schools in the Steel Valley School District and around the city of Pittsburgh to speak to the students of all grades; he attends functions presented by the community, and is always in attendance for the events that Best of the Batch organizes.
Charlie is 100% owner/president of Batch Development Company, Inc., a certified MBE. The primary purpose of Batch Development is to reinvest back into his community, create jobs, and to create opportunities for the surrounding neighborhoods.
- Batch Property Management, LLC - President, oversees the day-to-day management of 35 single family homes and 27 multi-family units which give 77 families a place call home.
- Owner of UPS Store-Waterfront which opened Spring 2005 and has been one of the regions highest revenue-generating franchises.
- Developer of a 47,000 square feet warehouse which will be converted into 17 contemporary lofts, office, and retail spaces in his hometown.
Continuing Education Certification
Wharton Business School
The Wharton custom program emphasizes entrepreneurship and business building with an emphasis on real estate. The program also includes an emphasis on analyzing financial statements, legal issues, investing and money management, social responsibility, property management, insurance and liability fundamentals, and taxation.
Harvard Business School
The Harvard custom program is designed to expose NFL participants to a broad array of business operations, negotiation, business plan analysis and legal aspects of business. All of these issues are pursued via the case method, in which participants study actual cases of real businesses and, in a highly interactive fashion, discuss the issues raised in the cases. The program also includes sessions focused on career issues, that allow participants to get feedback on their own strengths and weaknesses, develop a career vision and receive small group coaching. Cases focus on real estate ventures, franchises and retail businesses, among others.
